Ministry backs sale of Russian Railways’ stake in TransContainer
MOSCOW, Aug 7 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Transport Ministry advocates the sale of an entire 50% stake in container shipping company TransContainer, presently owned by state-run Russian Railways, via an open auction, Deputy Minister Alan Lushnikov told reporters on Monday.
Business daily Kommersant reported earlier this month that the Analytical Center for the Russian government thinks that privatizing an up to 75% stake would be reasonable, including the 50% belonging to Russian Railways and 24.5% held by independent pension fund Blagosostoyanie.
In June, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov asked the Economic Development Ministry to prepare an analysis of a possible sale of 50% in TransContainer.
